Calling 211

The workers at the Southeast Ohio 211 Call Center spent June with a telephone glued to their ear.

The information outlet took more than 13-hundred calls the most to date. Audrey Foster said the increase in calls was due to funding that came in.

"The extra call volume was because we had AEP funding for housing," explained Foster. "For rent, security deposits for mortgage help in Muskingum, Perry and Morgan county. We have used that money up except in Morgan County."

There is still more than a thousand dollars left for those in Morgan County who may need help paying rent or their mortgage. Foster said that residents shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help.

"At different times in your life we all have to see help for one thing or another," said Foster. "We’re just here to help them out and get them connected with the right place that would meet that need."

Foster said they are beginning to now see calls for those looking for school supplies. She said she is happy to be busy although it is a challenge keeping everything up to date.
