Downtown Zanesville will be full of activity this week, featuring unique tastes and sounds.
A Taste of Zanesville will kick off Wednesday afternoon with about 35 local businesses taking part in the event. The day will include art displays, demonstrations, and activity for kids taking place throughout the downtown area. Downtown Manager Dana Matz said, the day originally served as a bridge between pottery festivals and has been a success ever since.
"So all around the downtown area there are different things going on," said Matz. "It’s a great chance for people to get out of their cars walk around downtown see all the things happening, see their friends and hang out with us for an evening."
Also taking place Wednesday is the weekly Zanesville Farmers Market which will give a unique twist to the day. An old-time, blue-grass band will be featured at the market. ‘The Wayfarers’ are based out of Zanesville and will be debuting music from their new CD release. Matz said, he has received a lot of requests for music to be apart of the market and says the coordination with a Taste of Zanesville was perfect timing.
"So it’s kind of a two for one special, they will get to perform for the folks attending the Farmers Market as well as the folks attending the Taste of Zanesville," said Matz.
‘The Wayfares’ will be performing later this month at the Thornville Backwoods Fest and The Muskingum County Fair. Activities will begin Wednesday at 5:30 and continue until about 8:00.
