Flower arrangements of all types were acknowledged as art on Wednesday.

The 5th annual ‘Earth to Art’ flower show took place in Downtown Zanesville as part of the cities ‘Taste of Zanesville’ event. The show was hosted by Muskingum County Master Gardeners and featured eight categories including live and silk flower displays, paintings and still photography. Each category was awarded a winner. Co-Chairman, Kathy Mohler said the biggest part of the event is the planning.

“We work from the time the flowers start coming into the green houses we’re out there trying to come up with ideas of what we want to put in together,” said Mohler. “So that’s the fun part just getting creative, let those creative juices run so that the public can see what we do as Master Gardeners.”

Kid activities were also included in the event like making ink pens with flowers and painting using vegetables. Twins C.J. and Carlee Degarmo explained how they created their art.

“They cut up vegetables and they put it in paint,” said Degarm. “You just stamp them on.”

Items are available for purchase. All proceeds will go towards the Master Gardeners school grant program and will be disbursed throughout the Zanesville City Schools.
