Zanesville fire fighters took time out Friday to help fight muscular dystrophy.
Firemen were stationed on Maple Avenue and Bell Street for their annual "Fill The Boot" fundraiser to raise awareness of the disease through the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
"They’re reaching in their ashtrays, their pockets, their wallets, they are doing a great job, we’re filling boots like crazy," said Gale Law, Local 88 MDA Chairperson.
Law says Zanesville is one of the top ten cities for raising money in the state beating out many larger cities because they are allowed to actually stand in the middle of the street.
"A lot of towns don’t allow that and we got our foot in twenty years ago to get out in the street and it’s wonderful that the city still allows us to do this," said Law.
If you missed seeing the fire fighters Friday, they will be back at it on August 12th at the intersection of Zane and Underwood Streets. They hope to raise 15,000 dollars from both efforts.
