It’s a sign school days are drawing near…
School supplies are once again on the shelves. But, what happens when a child can’t buy the necessities? That’s when Eastside Community Ministry steps in with its Tools for Schools program. They need the communities help and are asking you to stuff the bus this weekend.
"We try to key in on some of the items that are fairly inexpensive, crayons, scissors, some of those things you know that Wal-mart runs specials on," said Bob Davidson from Eastside Community Ministry.
Davidson said over the years the need for this program in the community has increased.
"I think we’re going to see a lot more demand on average," said Davidson. "The last few years we’ve been serving 800-850 students providing backpacks for their grade, their school and their teacher."
Volunteers will hand out a list of supplies needed at Wal-mart North Saturday July 30 from 10-2pm to fill a bus donated by Primrose for the evnt.
