Operation Spirit Set To Move

Operation Spirit will soon have a new home.

The Zanesville Military Support Ministry uses money raised to send care packages and other necessities to troops overseas. Director Melodie Pittman said their current location is in need of too many structural repairs and will eventually be torn down. Pittman has been at the Balls Lane location, near Wal-Mart for the past 3 years and said the ideas of moving was overwhelming.

"It was like wow," said Pittman. "I thought okay, I’m okay, if the store will close but I was not up to the task of moving stuff to all the store fixtures."

To help lessen the load and to raise money for the move Operation Spirit will be having a 50% off sale from now until the doors close. The new location will be 1417 Linden Avenue right behind A1 Heating and Cooling. Pittman hopes to be in by October.

"When I walked in and saw it I was just overwhelmed," said Pittman, "because it has 20-foot walls and I was like, Oh, I have 500 square-feet of open space."

Operation Spirit is asking for assistance in the move. Any donated carpentry or painting skills would save cost that could be contributed towards the soldiers.
