Six days of good food and entertainment kick off bright and early Monday morning.

The Perry County Fair will open Monday in New Lexington. Vendors, rides and attractions began moving in on Thursday afternoon but Fair Board Director Julie Stenson said fair planning actually began this time last year.

"It’s a year long deal and these couple weeks before with doing all the prep and everything it’s tiring," said Stenson. "A lot goes into it but we all love it."

This year’s fair will feature a demolition derby, tractor pulls and a number of kid activities. Stenson said it’s a perfect opportunity for families on a budget.

"With the economy and everything it’s hard for people to take vacations so sometimes this is their vacation," explained Stenson.

The fair opens at 7:30 Monday morning and will run through Saturday evening. Admission is $8.
