Cashland Cuts Ribbon on Pawn Store

A Maple Avenue payday lending store cuts the ribbon on a new aspect of its business.

The Cashland Store celebrates the addition of pawn loans and retail sales to its cash advance business. The store manager said that with the U.S. changing from a manufacturing country to a service country it gives clients the chance to get cash and products they need.

"We don’t accept all the typical things a pawn store does," explained Manager Brian Gibson. "We have a select few items so we can make sure that the quality is there."

The company accepts small electronics such as TVs, computers and game consuls along with jewelry. For clients of the company the changes took some getting used to.

"Some of our customers were concerned. They’ve grown to like it," said Gibson. "In fact many of our former payday lending customers are now pawn customers. They’ve sold merchandise to us and gotten cash that way. They seem to like it and we hope that continues."

To celebrate the pawn aspect of the company the store is giving away a 32-inch LCD TV, ladies gold jewelry and a basketball autographed by Houston Rockets’ star Kevin Martin.

This is the cities 30th ribbon cutting.
