Earthquake Felt In Southeastern Ohio

The WHIZ Newsroom has been flooded with calls from viewers and listeners that say they felt an earthquake, and that is exactly what it was. There was a 5.9 magnitude earthquake reported in the Richmond, Virginia area at 1:51 pm.   WHIZ callers reported their homes shaking and their china cabinets opening.  Rea Huff of 618 Eppley Avenue says she felt her house shake and her neighbor felt the same thing.  There are no reports of damage in Muskingum County, but Sheriff Matt Lutz says some workers from the County Courthouse walked outside of the building in reaction to the quake. Some workers in other downtown buildings did the same thing according to Lutz.   The Associated Press is reporting that office buildings in Columbus and Cincinnati and the press box at the Cleveland Indians Progressive Park Field shook.  At least one building near the Statehouse was evacuated in Downtown Columbus. Michael Hansen of the Ohio Seismic Network says the Tremors were part of a 5.9 quake near Mineral, Virginia.
