Muskingum and surrounding counties saw a slight drop in the number of fatalities this year compared to last year.

A map posted on the State Highway Patrol’s website shows that Muskingum County had seven fewer fatalities than last year. Perry County also saw a drop with four less fatalities. Guernsey County saw three less fatal crashes. Noble and Coshocton Counties were both down only one fatality than last year and Morgan and Licking Counties were unchanged.

Cuyahoga County has seen the biggest decline. The Patrol said the county that includes Cleveland has had 19 fewer fatalities than during the first seven months or so of 2010. Stark County, which includes Canton, has seen the largest increase. The number of fatalities is up to eight year to date.
