Thirteen teams of golfers gathered at the Vista Golf Course in Zanesville on Friday for a special occasion.

Proceeds from the outing will benefit 33-year-old Ryan Omen, who has undergone three brain surgeries this summer.  Omen’s sister Lynn Love said Omen had a mass removed from his brain after complaining about a headache over Memorial Day weekend.

"Today we’re having this benefit for Ryan to help raise some money for basic expenses and medical costs," said Love.  "This will help with transportation back and forth to Colombus."

Love said Omen was released from the hospital on Friday, and he was expected to make an appearance on the golf course.  Omen’s sister Renee Lytton said his condition is improving every day.

"I think he’s doing better," said Lytton.  "It’s been a really long road to this recovery, but in the past three weeks, I’d say he’s actually made the biggest improvement."

Organizers of the event said they expect to raise between $2000 and $3000 for Omen.
