The Muskingum Recreation Center is in the beginning stages and ideas on the design are needed.
The community is invited to meet with the design team at a public ‘information and input’ open house this Wednesday. The purpose of the event is to inform supporters and the community about the progress of the Rec Center. Assistant Dean of Development Cindy Linn said ideas on both design and programs are welcome.
"As a result, the more they can tell us about what their interested in having then the better that we can serve them," said Linn.
The Rec Center will be constructed on the O-U Zanesville campus- adjacent to the Littick Hall Gymnasium. Construction is presumed to begin in 2012. The facility will include fitness, education, and exercise areas. Following the open house, ideas will be added and another public meeting will take place before the design team sets-forth.
"Then we’ll start," said Linn. "The architects will start, putting a pen to paper, start really designing it."
The Muskingum Recreation Center is a partnership of Genesis HealthCare System, Ohio University Zanesville, The Muskingum Family "Y" and the Muskingum County Community Foundation.
Wednesday’s open house will be held at Ohio University Zanesville and Zanes State College Campus Center in rooms 431 and 432. The meeting will begin at 4:30.
