Muskingum University celebrated their 175th class of incoming freshman.

More than 400 incoming students were welcomed to Muskingum University. President Doctor Anne Steele has been working at the University for more than 10 years and said it’s always a joy to see the faces of the young students. She said they often times are nervous- as well as excited- but she knows many will go on to be successful.

"The students, well you can see through the confirmation of our speaker, Beverly Coen that talent continues decade after decade, century after century," said Steele.

Zanesville Native and Muskingum College Alumna Doctor Beverly Coen has gone on to become the Chief Tax and Risk Officer of Nordson Corporation, the world’s leading producer in applying sealants and adhesives to a number of products. Originally a Philo High School Graduate- she told stories of how she could relate with the incoming students.

"Often times it’s a little difficult adjusting to the college expectations," said Coen. "It takes a few attempts to really understand how to study in college."

Tuesdays event only marked the beginning of the school year for traditional students. Adult students will begin in September.
