There’s one week left for those seeking office to turn in their petitions to run.
August 10th is the deadline to turn in forms to the Muskingum County Board of Elections for the November ballot. Over the last three weeks Board of Elections Director Chris Hamill said many people have come into the office seeking candidate forms.
"The must come in to the office and pick up a petition and we explain the procedure to them," explained Hamill.
One thing being stressed is those wanting to run shouldn’t wait till the 4pm deadline on the 10th. The reason being if there is a line and you’re not check in then you’re name won’t appear.
Hamill said this November a lot of names will appear on the ballot.
"I just think that they are concerned about their counties and they want to make sure that they are a part of that," said Hamill.
On the ballot this November is the Zanesville Mayoral race, village and township issues and various school board races along with three state issues. If you would like to register to vote you must do so by October 11.
