A small community in Muskingum County kicked off a big celebration this weekend…

It’s The 16th Annual Chandlersville Homecoming which kicked off Friday night and continues through Sunday morning with an outdoor Church Service and BBQ Chicken Dinner. President Darren Sears said the small community is very tight-knit and will bring out a surprisingly large crowd.

"Tonight with the square dance, believe it or not square dances are still pretty big deal around here and we end up with probably about 300 people on Saturday evening."

The weekend festivities are made possible through donations and sponsorship. Sears said the event will bring in between $6 -7,000 all of which will be reinvested into the community property where the homecoming and other activities take place.

"We’re constantly working on renovating the building," said Sears. "We now have air conditioning and heat, new windows and all new interior and bathrooms and it’s just really coming around."

Festivities included a kids pedal pull, games and vendors.
