The St. Nicholas Festival officially kicked off Wednesday evening.

The Festival features a different band performing each night through Saturday along with rides, games, prizes, and as always, a chinese auction.

"What we do is put tags in the back of the church and we ask for donations from parishioners and they bring in all kinds of stuff and at the end, we put all the baskets together and promote them," said Chinese Auction Volunteer Cindy Bugglin.

This year’s auction includes a variety of different items including baskets of books, cleaning products, candles, and even some hot items like Ohio State versus Akron game tickets and a Callaway golf club.

"You buy chances. 50 cents for one tag, 4 for a dollar or 25 tickets for 5 dollars. You put your name and phone number on the back, you go around and find something you like, drop it in, and on Saturday night at the end of the festival, we draw for all the items," said Bugglin.

The festival runs through Saturday behind Bishop Fenwick School on Main street. All money raised goes back to the school.
