The Time to Remember 9-11

The Time to Remember 9-11

by Danielle Cotterman on August 25, 2011

The 10th anniversary of the 9-11 Terrorist Attacks is next month and an event is planned to help you observe that tragic day.

It was 5 years ago the Military Support Group and New Hope Gospel Church of Zanesville independently held a remembrance of the 9-11 attacks. This year the two groups will come together to observe the tragic day.

"One of the things we think is so important is to remember, respect and to heal," said Secretary of Military Families Support Group of Zanesville Aleta (A.J) Smidt. "In remembering- we’re remembering the victims. In respect- we want to pay homage to our law enforcement, fire department, volunteer fire department, all our first responders and our military who we count on."

New Hope Full Gospel Church Administrator Jennifer King remembers the moment the towers fell. She said it was a day and time that will remain in the minds of so many Americans.

"I’m a very patriotic American so it hit me hard in that way," said King. "For our county to be attacked in this magnitude and to watch on TV  the families that were effected and the people lives were effected. I think every American felt it."

King invites you to share your recollection of 9-11 and what it met to you. The stories will be shared as part of the Memorial Program at New Hope Full Gospel Church in Zanesville on September 11th.
