Wilkin Uses Steady Play to Win ZDGA

He isn’t even from Zanesville but Jesse Wilkin used a relaxed attitude to come out and win the Zanesville District Golf Association Tournament  by shooting a four day total of 284 good enough for one under par.

Wilkin was so relaxed that at one point he teed off from his knees and hit a drive 250 yards right down the middle and pared the hole. It is his first victory in the event and he unseated Chase Wilson, a Zanesville Graduate, as the champion. Wilson did finish second however shooting a 291 which was a six over par tournament.

Other notable names that were in contention were Tri-Valley Graduate Matt Kaido who finished tied for third with Jason Baughman. A.T. Spires put up the only final round red number, by firing a 71 on the final day. Spires finished in fifth place. WHIZ’s own JJ Mickey checked in at the 22nd position and Chad Shawger finished in a tie for 14th.
