The Y-city is preparing for an art invasion this weekend.
Two hundred visual artists from all over the country will take over the Y-bridge showing off their creations. Demonstrations will take place along with food, dancers and bands. In its third year organizers said there’s no better place to hold it then on this very unique structure.
"A lot of people who live here in Zanesville have never walked across the bridge. We got that comment so many times in the last two years," said Artist Recruitment Chair Linda Regula. "So we sort of have that as our slogan, "See you on the Bridge."
This free event also features a children’s area near the canal where the Columbus Zoo will have animals on Saturday, a Civil War Encampment and take home art projects for kids.
"This even has the potential to grow as large and to bring so much to our local economy, bring tourists to help us with an identity of our city that is associated with art," explained Regula.
Because of the festival the Y-bridge Main Street span will close Friday at 6am so that set up can begin. The Main Street span will remain closed until Sunday at 6am. Two lanes of traffic will be open on the short spans allowing traffic to pass from Linden Avenue to West Main.
