American flags will soon be on display in front of many homes to commemorate the ten year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
A lot of those flags are assembled at Annin Flagmakers in Coshocton. Director of Operations Rick Merrell said Annin couldn’t keep up with flag sales in the weeks following the attacks.
"It took us a while to get flags to the American public," said Merrell. "I think Annin has made the choice that they’ll always have a few million dollars worth of inventory at any given time."
Merrell said Annin is shipping four large flags to the World Trade Center – an American flag, a flag of honor, a flag of heroes and a remembrance flag that celebrates the lives of fallen first responders.
"There’s a display going up at the memorial with 2,976 of the honor flags that will be flying starting on 9/11," said Merrell.
Annin is the oldest and largest maker of flags in the United States.
