Golf Outing to Benefit Cancer Patient

This weekend golfers can bring out their clubs and swing for a good cause.

Vista golf course in Nashport is hosting a golf outing benefit for Barbara Bowman.  Vista manager Ryan Schmidt said Bowman is undergoing cancer treatment, and proceeds from this tournament will cover some of her expenses.

"I know her travel expenses aren’t covered," said Schmidt.  "The place she’s staying at is very expensive in Chicago.  Anything that we can raise would be a huge benefit."

Schmidt said he encourages everyone – even non-golfers – to attend the event and enjoy refreshments.  He said the Bowman family appreciates the community’s support.

"I went to high school with Barbara’s daughter Misty," said Schmidt.  "Her and I are still good friends.  Misty called me, and I jumped on board to help with this outing."

The four man scramble begins at 2 PM on Sunday with registration at 1 PM.  The cost is $50 per person, and any other donations are welcomed.
