Summer is almost over, and it’s time to start thinking about flu season.
Rambo Memorial Health Center will be providing flu shots at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds on Tuesday from 7 AM until 7 PM. Pulmonary rehabilitation coordinator Kelly Moore said you won’t need to get out of your car, but you will need to dish out some cash.
"What we’ve seen over the past few years, is due to competition from pharmacies and grocery stores, it’s been slowly chipping away at the amount of reimbursement we get from Medicare," said Moore. "We weren’t even breaking even."
Moore said the immunizations will cost $5 for Muskingum County residents, $15 for those who don’t live in the county, and free for Medicare and Medicaid patients. She said the mass immunization day at the fairgrounds is great practice for an emergency situation.
"It allows several different organizations – ourselves, the health department, the sheriff’s office – to all come together and see how we can effectively serve the residents of Muskingum County," said Moore.
Flu shots will also be available at three other locations on Tuesday:
Ohio University Zanesville/Zane State College Campus Center at 11 AM until 3 PM
Dresden Fire Department at 1 PM until 5 PM
Harrison Township Fire Department at 3 PM until 7 PM
Kids Flu Day will take place on Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM at the James Singer Activity Center. Children ages 2 through 18 can get their shots and play games.
