Some renovations are coming to the South Branch Library in South Zanesville.
The Muskingum County Library System Board of Trustees met Tuesday evening approving a bid from Hoon incorporated out of Athens to make around 170,000 dollars in renovations.
"We’re expanding computer access because we have documentation that is a highly valued service there, access to broadband, high speed internet service, we’re adding laptops and making the layout more adaptable so 5 or 10 years from now, if these patterns change, we can adapt to how they are being used," said Muskingum County Library System’s Blair Tom.
Tom says one of the signature moves the Library System has made in recent years is adapting to the public’s needs and not how traditional libraries operated in the past.
"That’s challenging, but it’s responsive to how we’re being used. And that’s the agreement we made two years ago when voters approved the library levy. We’ll listen and pay attention to how you use your locations," said Tom.
The Board still needs to meet with the contractor to discuss operating hours during construction. The entire renovation is expected to be done by the end of the year.
