Four fire departments were called to a fire at a Roseville home Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out around noon at 170 Potters Lane. Newton Township Fire Chief Allen Deaver says the companies that arrived on the scene reported heavy smoke showing from the home.

"There is signifigant smoke damage throughout the house." said Chief Deaver. "The kitchen is burnt out, some rafters in the kitchen, but it’s not a total loss, the guys put a good stop on it."

He says the fire was contained in about twenty minutes, with Roseville, Crooksville, South Zanesville, and Newton Township fire departments all helping to battle the blaze. He says it’s unclear what exactly caused the fire.

"The fire originated in the area of the kitchen, and beyond that, it’s still under investigation." said Deaver.

Initial scanner reports indicated that a person was trapped inside the Potters lane address, but Chief Deaver says upon arrival, they did not find anyone trapped inside the home. He says they were able to speak with the male occupant of the home, but had not been able to contact the female occupant. He says they are certain nobody was in the home at the time of the fire.
