People looking for a new style left the Opportunity Center’s 7th Annual Makeover Day with a bit more pep in their step.
Fifty people came in to Mid-East’s Cosmetology studio Tuesday to get their hair styled and their nails and make-up done. It’s all in an effort to help them make a great first impression when heading out to job interviews.
"Some of the problems of the economy is people have to cut haircuts," said Coordinator Justy Cordray. "It’s really important to make a good first impression for a job interview or that sort of thing, so cutting one thing and us being able to give it back to you will give a boost of confidence, that sort of thing, to go out and feel good and confident when you’re out on a job interview."
One stylist has taken part in this program for the last five years.
"It makes feel really good to make people feel good about themselves," said Lindsey Erwin from Lauren’s on Maple.
Students in Mid-East’s Cosmetology program also got to experience working in a busy salon and participated by doing the nails and make-up for the clients.
