A father of a fallen soldier is continuing his son’s legacy.
Preparations are underway for the 7th annual Let Freedom Run/Walk in Dresden. The event honors Sergeant Bradley Harper, who was killed in action in Iraq in 2005. Steve Harper said Bradley would be proud of his hometown’s generosity.
"He would be glad to see that things are still going on, and people are remembering him for what he did as well as all of the others who have given their lives for our country," said Harper. "To see people come out and support a good cause would make him quite happy."
Steve said he expects about 200 people to come out for the run/walk. Proceeds benefit Toys for Tots, an organization that Bradley was passionate about.
"He was involved in that when he was a Marine, and it was something he really cared about," said Harper. "We’re trying to carry that tradition on."
The run/walk will begin at American Legion in Dresden on October 22nd at 10 AM. Pre-registration is encouraged, and you can contact Steve at (740) 754-3010 for an application or visit Lawler’s Pharmacy or The Thirsty Dawg.
