Some positive support for Sheriff Lutz and the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Department can be seen along Maple Avenue.

Local businesses are posting their appreciation for the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Department and the efforts made during the release of the exotic animals.

Jay Butler of  Butler Realty said,  "Sheriff Lutz is a leader, a leader of our community who had to make a hard decision and he made the right decision."

Business Owner George Patterson said he had been following the events very closely and felt the repercussions could have been much worse had the Sheriff’s Department not taken the action they did.

"We thought Sheriff Lutz and his department, the way that he stepped up and the things that they did and the way that they communicated what was going on was really outstanding," said Patterson. "For a small town like us to have such a big event like this and for the department to step in the way they did was really outstanding."

Sheriff Lutz expressed a sincere appreciation for the community support, saying he was grateful for their understanding of the difficult situation.
