The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department asks that you’ll voice your opinion.
In August the health department along with students at Zane State began surveying the community about a number of issues including social background, neighborhood information and healthcare. The department needs about one hundred more survey to be completed before November.
"We’ve already been able to use some information. Our tobacco specialist has met with the mayor and brought some information about how people feel about smoke free campuses, so we’ve been able to use preliminary information already to inform our legislatures," said Jody Stones community health planner.
Stones said they are also looking for more men to answer the 82 questions.
"The information will be used to write our community health improvement plan, we have the Healthier Muskingum County Network," said Stones. "All our health and health related organizations come together each month and they’ll look at the gaps, barriers and needs that come out of that."
Once they take a look at those gaps the organization will be able to use the information to create strategies to attack health at a community level. The survey can be found on the health department’s website.
