Bethlehem Comes to Chandlersville

The weekend after Thanksgiving is well-known for Black Friday, but for some people, it’s not about shopping.

For ten years, about a dozen churches have collaborated to put on the Bethlehem Walk, an outdoor drama at Chandlersville United Methodist Church.  Pastor Ken Ogg said guides have led more than 1,000 people through the tour.

"It talks about the life of Christ, from when the angel comes to Mary, to the manger scene, and everything in between with Roman soldiers, horse and chariots, tax collectors, marketplaces and the whole bit," said Ogg.

Ogg said people come from all over the world to see the show.  He said a few guests have even compared it to the Bethlehem Walk in Israel.

"We have one lady who has made her third trip here," said Ogg.  "She came down one time to visit her family, and she’s from England, and the next year she came back, and she called her sister in Florida and told her to meet her in Columbus to go to Chandlersville."

After the walk, people warmed up inside with homemade cookies and hot chocolate.
