The First Friday Art Walk is this Friday in Zanesville, and the Artist Colony of Zanesville is featuring 22 artists.
Gallery G at the Masonic Temple on 4th Street is the Artist of the Month. Owner Bob Grayson said many of the artists are couples.
"When there’s an artist who does artwork, his wife or girlfriend may say she supports him, but very few times do they say they want to do it too," said Grayson.
Bob "Yabo" Wilson and Tina Maxwell are one of the couples whose artwork is on display in Gallery G. Wilson is a recovered cancer patient, and he said painting with his girlfriend is therapeutic.
"During my fight with cancer, I just started drawing as I felt like it," said Wilson. "It’s been really good, because with cancer, you never know when you’re going to feel good. You have good days, bad days, parts of a day that are good. I could wake up at 2 AM, feel pretty good and start drawing or painting."
You can see the work of all 22 artists, including Wilson and Maxwell, during the First Friday Art Walk.
