The Muskingum County Board of Elections met to certify the November 8th vote…And it looks like a couple of re-counts will be needed.
Director of Muskingum County Board of Elections Chris Hamill explains that votes counted on election night are unofficial until they can be recounted and certified.
"We count everything again today, it takes about an hour and a half," explained Hamill. "We add the provisional ballets in and that changes the total from the unofficial count."
Hamill said two local races will need to be recounted- the Franklin Local School Board and a seat on Dresden Village Council. Two village council candidates, Ted Crozier Sr. and Rhonda Holdren, had the same vote count if after the recount the vote count is still tied — then the race will be decided by a coin flip.
"The two candidates come in and one will call heads or who ever selects to call can," explained Hamill, "whoever picks the head or the tails and it lands a certain way and that’s the winner."
Hamill said the recount date has not yet been set.
