Voters will head to the polls on Tuesday for the general election, and preparations are already underway in Muskingum County.
Board of Elections Director Chris Hamill said supplies were delivered to the county’s 85 voting precincts on Monday. She said the nice weather should bring a good turnout on Tuesday.
"Rainy days are harder for people to get out," said Hamill. "With a sunny day, I think people are eager to go out on Election Day."
The Board of Elections saw a slight increase in absentee ballots compared to the 2009 general election. Hamill said it takes a lot of hard work to get the results finalized by about 10:30 on election night, which means partial vote counts are not released.
"After the polls close, all of the supplies are brought back to the Board of Elections," said Hamill. "We then take the cards from each unit, and we process them here at the Board of Elections, and the totals are counted including the absentee ballots."
The polls are open on Tuesday from 6:30 AM until 7:30 PM. Voters must bring a valid form of identification.
