Healthcare costs for Muskingum County workers are going up by 5 percent.

Members of Local 3529, part of the County’s Job and Family Services sector met for their monthly meeting Tuesday night at the Zanesville Eagles. President Deborah Haswell says in this economy, it’s gone up every year and is a harsh reality many have to face.

"We understand healthcare is going up across the board everywhere. It just affects all of us everyday. It’s part of our budgets that we live on," said Haswell.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting as Election Day inches closer was the Union’s strong push against Issue 2.

"A lot of people I think are misinformed. We’ve always paid into our healthcare. We’ve always paid our portion," said Haswell.

Haswell says people should research Issue 2 in its entirety before casting their vote November 8th.
