The delicious smell of pancakes will once again float through the air at Secrest Auditorium.
Wednesday November 16 is Sertoma Pancake Day in Zanesville. For 51 years the organization has been serving up the all you can eat flapjacks along with a side of sausage and orange juice. In preparation food was being delivered on Tuesday and tables set up for the big event.
"It starts months ahead of time just getting everything together and everything ordered," said Co-chair Russell Taylor. "Just making sure everything is here on time, it’s a big job."
Sertoma members said 51 cases of pancake mix were order for this year’s even along with 47 cases of syrup and 1,800 pounds of sausage. Last year they served almost 6,000 people.
"It’s amazing. The amazing thing is how many people come every year," said Taylor. "It’s just the same ones over and over and they just love it."
Doors open Wednesday at 6am and close at 7pm. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. All money raised goes towards helping local charities.
