Veterans Day is on Friday, and Muskingum County is recognizing three heroes who continue to serve their communities.

Donald and Larry Hindel from Frazeysburg and Howard Lavy Jr. from Zanesville are being inducted into the Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame.  Secrest Auditorium Manager John Kunkel said even though the parade is over, people should still support the troops.

"We do it because when we’re at war, people are very excited about the United States – the red, white and blue, and you hear "God Bless the USA" all the time on the radio or television, but when the hype of that conflict dies down, people forget that our troops are out there each day," said Kunkel.

The inductees will receive plaques for their achievement, and their names will be displayed in Secrest Auditorium.  A veteran himself, Kunkel said he’s honored to be in the company of these three men.

"It’s a very humbling experience," said Kunkel.  "I’ve done a lot of work and things I enjoy doing for the community.  I never thought that I would be honored to stand with people like these gentlemen.  To be in the hall of fame is quite an honor."

An induction ceremony is being held on Friday at 7 PM at Secrest Auditorium.
