H.S. Boys Basketball:

Cambridge 83 Maysville 77 OT

What a way to open the boys basketball season. In a game that was thought to be a low posession, grind-it-out type affair, it proved to be anything but in Southtown tonight. The Maysville Panthers were determined tog et the ball up and down the floor, as Head Coach Todd Whiteman channeled his inner Paul Westhead. Cambridge was up for the challenge though, as coach Mike Andrews’ bunch took every punch Maysville had to throw, and had one left in overtime. There’s not much time for the Panthers to feel sorry for themselves though, as Rosecrans comes to the Panther Palace Tuesday Night.

Meadowbrook 46 Philo 40

Poor shooting was the story in Duncan Falls as the Electrics were colder than ice from the field in the first half. Philo shot a fridged 27 percent which lead to a two point deficet at recess. The shooting did get better in the second half but by the time it did Meadowbrook had already staked themselves to a 12 point lead. After a furious come back lead by Zak Sheridan (13pts) and Tyler Cassidy (10pts) the Electrics were able to cut it to a three point game. The Colts though were able to knock down their free throws hitting 76 percent of their attempts. The Colts were lead by sophmore Cameron Summers who tallied 12 points.

Northridge 44 Heath 50

Heath opened up their 2011-2012 campaign with a 50-44 victory at home over Northridge.  The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 13-8 first quarter advantage and never looked back.  After trailing in the opening two minutes, they never lost the lead the rest of the contest.  Jalen Daniels led all scorers with 16 points for Heath.  Rodney Porter also had 15 in the winning effort.  Hayden Warner had 10 points in the losing effort for the Vikings.
