Library in the Palm of Your Hand

There’s a new way to connect to the Muskingum County Library System and it’s all in the palm of your hand.

You can now access the library through a phone app. All you have to do is go the App Store on your phone, search for LS2 and then download. Once it downloads it’s just a matter of choosing the Muskingum County Library on the menu. You’ll then be able to take books on and off hold, see if you have fines and if the library has the book you’re searching for.

"It’s a new way of making the library accessible where you are," said Blair Tom. "It’s just another way of making virtual library services available."

The library is also seeing a growth in the use of E-books and music. At first the E-books were only compatible with the Nook, but now some even work with the Kindle.

"They’re still using libraries. They are just using us differently," said Tom. "We continue to follow and try to lead some of the trends and be available in the manner that people want to use the library."

While Tom said it’s difficult to keep up with all the new trends the associates at the libraries can answer any questions you may have about the phone app or the E-books. E-books can be found on the library’s website by clicking on the E-books link.
