More Options for Holiday Shoppers

The weekend before Christmas is a busy time for last-minute shoppers.

The Colony Square Mall in Zanesville was packed with people buying gifts, and shoppers have a few more stores to choose from this holiday season.  Calendar Club is one of several seasonal kiosks in the mall that survives on Christmas sales.  Manager Matthew Bishop said despite the weak economy, sales are up this year.

"For these paperback calendars, it seems like a traditional thing for families, and a lot of grandparents get them every year, and they expect the calendars to be here at this mall," said Bishop.

Employees at another store are hoping to have a more permanent presence in the mall.  Assistant Manager Ashley Orndorff said Damaged opened its doors eight weeks ago, and the timing couldn’t be better.

"A lot of the kids come in, and they go back and tell their parents, and then the parents come in and say their kids loved this store, and they get most of their gifts here," said Orndorff.

If you didn’t get a chance to finish your holiday shopping this weekend, the Colony Square Mall will stay open until 11 PM Monday through Friday next week.
