Muskingum County Water and Sewer customers may need to redesign their monthly budget starting in 2012.

In an effort to control costs and operate more efficiently, the Muskingum County Water and Sewer Departments have combined into one facility on Richards road. Water and Sewer customers will start seeing some changes on their bills.

"Sewer customers are accustomed to a bill each month, that will now go to a bill every other month." explained Muskingum County Commissioner, Jim Porter. "Plus the combined customers, water and sewer, will be getting a huge bill every two months so there is a little bit of budgeting that they will have to do in preparing for this also."

Porter stresses that the reason some customers will see a large bill is because of the combined billing, not because of rate increases.

"There are still option to pay monthly." said Porter. "They have to go to the Richards road office, at 375 Richards road, and complete all the forms necessary to do it."

The combined billing will go into effect after January 1st, 2012. Porter says letter have been sent to all affected residents informing them of the change.
