Quick moves by a pizza delivery man may have saved him from being robbed by gun point.

According to Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz a Papa John’s Employee was making a delivery in the 3700 block of the East Pike last night when an armed man attempted to rob him. The employee was able to fight off the subject and according to sheriff’s call logs knock out the suspect and take the gun.

Lutz said the suspect fled the scene, leading deputies on a chase. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed his vehicle on Normandy Drive in Zanesville.

Lutz said the suspect was taken into custody and is being identified as 31-year-old Shane Michael Powell of Dresden.
Powell is being charged with one count of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification, one count of having a weapon while under disability, one count of failure to comply and fleeing after a felony and one count of failure to comply with the risk of harm.
