Heath Police ask residents to watch out for a phone scam.
Authorities said that on Wednesday November 30 a resident reported sending $98 to secure a loan from USA Personal Loans after being solicited over the phone.
The resident sent the money through Western Union to Delhi, India. The resident was then told the loan would be sent after a $175 tax was sent.
The resident realized then it was a scam and contacted police.
The investigating officer called the number, which was based out of Rhode Island. The officer spoke to a man and was unable to verify this as a legitimate business. All other calls went unanswered.
The Heath Police said residents should contact law enforcement if you are a victim of the scam or received a call like this one.
