The Muskingum County Community Foundation held its annual Groundhog Day fundraiser Friday evening.

The event featured dinner, and a silent auction at the Ohio University/Zane State Campus Center.
Community Foundation Council Chair, Daniel Vincent said the event is designed to raise money to give back to the community.

"We have a multitude of artists and businesses that donate goods and artwork, it’s a great event, a lot of fun. We have many regulars that come back year after year to bid and help raise this money," said Vincent.

Bill Straker was honored Friday evening with the Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award.
Straker’s daughter, Susan, accepted the award on her father’s behalf, and said her father’s work behind the scenes made her especially proud.

"We believe that the work that the community foundation does for our community is really vital and we are happy to be apart of it," said Susan Straker-Holdren.

Also honored Friday evening were John and Leilani Delbert; this year’s recipients of the Brian T. Wagner Community Leadership Award.
