The Muskingum County Community Foundation is having its 27th annual Groundhog Day Fundraiser.
Executive Director David Mitzel says the event has been a success in the past and he expects the same this year. On January 27th, guests can enjoy silent and live auctions and food from 12 different caterers. Mitzel says they generally raise 45-thousand dollars in one evening.
"Once we receive that, we put that into a grant competition, so the money we gain that evening goes out to the community," said Mitzel.
Mitzel says the Groundhog day Fundraiser brings the community together with generally 350 people in attendance.
"It’s really a good time. People come out there to enjoy, often times they don’t see each other until the next Groundhog Day. It’s kind of like a community reunion," said Mitzel.
The Dick Johnson Civic and Brian T. Wagner Community Leadership Awards will be presented at the event. For more information or to make reservations, you can visit www.mccf.org or call the Community Foundation at (740) 453-5192.
