Bystanders Help Police Catch Suspect

Bystanders at a Zanesville grocery store help police nab a robbery suspect authorities say injured two women.

According to Lt. Tony Coury with the Zanesville Police Department, a man grabbed a woman’s purse in the parking lot of the Pick-N-Save on Howard Street around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon. Coury says in the struggle for the purse the victim was injured.

Several bystanders who witnessed the attack attempted to stop the suspect. One woman even jumped in the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect struck that woman several times and then tossed her from the vehicle. She received minor injuries.

Lt. Coury says with the witnesses help authorities were able to get a vehicle description and partial plate. Coury says the suspect was taken into custody soon after the attack and will now be facing several charges. His name will not be released until he is formally charged.
