A home in the Village of Otsego is a total loss after a fire late Tuesday afternoon.
According to Captain Raymond Wortman of the Adamsville Fire Department it happened at 1175 Plainfield Road around 4:00. He said upon arrival crews could see smoke coming from the one story, wood frame house.
"Basically upon arrival it was a defensive attack mode, the whole side of the structure on the east-side was totally engulfed," said Wortman. "It was unsafe for personnel to go inside."
Wortman said the two women who occupy the home weren’t there at the time of the fire. The Red Cross will be assisting the women.
"The Red Cross will help the family get food, clothing, a place to stay tonight."
Wortman said the fire was contained within 20 minutes of arrival. The cause remains under investigation.
