Officers are continuing to investigate a weekend robbery at the Gabriel Brothers in Zanesville.

Detective Sergeant Ric Roush said a 23-year-old male employee was in the parking lot Sunday morning when a suspect hit him with a small, silver hand gun and then took-off with an undisclosed amount of the store’s cash.

"It appears the victim was struck in the chest area with the gun," said Roush."(Victim) received no injuries and suspect took off."

Roush said the suspect fled into a wooded area directly behind the Gabriel Brothers store. Patrol Officers and Detectives searched the area and questioned witnesses for more details.

"The victim described the suspect as a black male, and at the time of the robbery the suspect was wearing a black ski mask and was approximately 6 foot tall," said Roush.

As of Monday afternoon the suspect currently remains at large. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Zanesville Police Department at 740-455-0700 or call the ZPD Tips Hotline at 740-455-0712.
