Old man winter has arrived in Zanesville and the rest of Ohio. The predicted mixture of sleet, freezing rain and snow arrived in our area just as predicted by WHIZ Chief Meteorologist Wesley Sass. Area roads are covered with a layer of sleet, some snow and freezing rain and that means it is slick. There is some traction for drivers due to the layer of sleet but driving is at best hazardous. The Ohio Department of Transpiration along with Zanesville and Muskingum County crews are working on regional roadways. parts of our area remains under a Winter Storm Warning until 10 a.m. Snow Emergencies remains in effect and are being updated on this website…whiznews.com, WHIZ-TV and WHIZ Radio. The Highway Patrol says I-70 is slippery and dangerous. There have been quite a few accidents, but nothing serious. The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office is describing roadways and slick. So far dispatchers say there have been no accidents in the County.
