Despite the winter weather, two teams in the mid-state league got together and treated fans to a great game on Friday night.  The Green Wave did the right things late and survived, earning a one point victory.  After leading 20-12 after one, the Panthers used the deep ball to draw closer and only trailed 31-29 at the half.  After cutting the deficit to one after three quarters, Licking Valley took their first lead 49-48 on a Matt Stokes three pointer.  After being forced to foul, the Green Wave got the ball back down three when Jett Speelman knocked down a three to tie it up at 56.  On the other end, Rickey Wilson made a turn around jumper with just over nine seconds left to give the Panthers a two point lead.  But once again, the Green Wave answered with David Meurer knocking down an off-balance tough angle floater to tie the game again.  Then, following a Panthers turnover, Mitch Cox threw the ball off a Panther players back, and forced a foul call along the baseline.  Cox made one of two free throws and Licking Valley was unable to get off a shot before the buzzer.

Four players were in double figures for the Green Wave led by Jett Speelman with 17 points.  Chayce Crouch added 14, David Meurer 13, and Mitch Cox with 10 points for Newark Catholic.  Rickey Wilson led all scorers with 19 in the loss for the Panthers.  Darin Cognion also had 11 and Nathan Wood 10 points for Licking Valley.
