A home outside of Dresden is being called a total loss after a fire early Saturday evening.

Jennifer Conrad says her home on Mollies Rock Road was experiencing problems when a gas line used to heat her home froze.
Conrad, along with boyfriend, Jeff Hawk, and their three children were not home at the time of the fire.
A dog that was inside the trailer managed to escape.
Conrad said electrical heaters were being used to temporarily heat her home.
Dresden Fire Chief, Carl Archer said while the cause of the fire is still under investigation, he believes it had to do with those temporary heating elements Conrad was using.

"A lot of times, it’s temporary heat which causes a lot of problems during the winter when it’s real cold like this," said Archer.  "But, it’s still under investigation, I’m not sure that it was the heaters, but there’s a good possibility of that."

Archer said there were no smoke detectors in the house, and cautions homeowners about the hazards of heating frozen lines during the winter months.

"If they have any frozen lines, gas lines or water lines, they got to be very careful on heating them, and if you do have any temporary heating in a structure, make sure that somebody is there to attend them and keep an eye on them," added Archer

Archer said Conrad and her boyfriend did not have insurance on their home.
The Red Cross will be providing assistance to the family this evening.
