The Zanesville City School’s Board of Education held their first organizational and special sessions of 2012 today.

The Board nominated and elected Brian Swope as the new President and Scott Bunting as the new Vice President.  Swope replaces outgoing board President Lee Eppley, and saids despite the change at the top, he doesn’t expect much to change.

"A lot of the changes we’ve already incorporated in previous years, and a lot of things depend of what our Senators and Congress do on budgets and things like that," said Swope.  "That will determine what are next steps are on certain things."

At the special session held afterward, Superintendent, Terry Martin presented the Board of Education with recognition from both Zanesville City Schools and The Ohio School Board Association.

Even with the awards, Swope said the board wont be satisfied with their work until they can achieve the highest educational ratings possible.

"We want to increase our education level; our rating with the state. And we’ve come a long way," added Swope.  "We’re not satisfied, and we’re not going to be satisfied until we get to the highest level we can achieve. yo know I think as a board, we’ll be fine."

The awards were presented in honor of School Board recognition month.
